Summary

The report, published under the theme “Living in Istanbul, Living Istanbul”, covers the political structure of the province, preferences among candidates, Prof. Dr. Hasan Kirmanoğlu's analysis of the candidates' positions in terms of contrasts across Turkey, general political preferences, and a word analysis of the parties' local election information one month before the March 31, 2024 Local Elections. The rest of the report is devoted to Istanbulites: what is their demographic structure, how do they live, how do they relate to the city, where do they live, where do they work or travel, which problems do they prioritize, what do they think about living in Istanbul, how satisfied are they with municipal services? The report also includes maps and cartograms summarizing the lives of Istanbulites.

KONDA Research has been conducting a series of political and social surveys called BAROMETER every month since 2010. In addition to the standard questions on demographic characteristics, political preferences and economic expectations that we regularly ask in each BAROMETER survey, we also ask questions about the public's perspective on the issues that are on the public agenda at the time and to measure their perceptions and expectations in different areas. The research, which is the 151st in the Barometer research series, was conducted on March 2-3, 2024 in 135 neighborhoods of 36 districts of Istanbul by face-to-face interviews with 2489 people in their households.
