The report prepared under the theme “Tolerance and polarization in Turkey” examines the tendencies towards tolerance and tolerance in Turkish society and the positions of the society in the perception of social polarization. In the research conducted for this purpose, some of the judgments in previous KONDA surveys are repeated and new judgments that can be used to evaluate the tendency of society to live together are discussed. Thus, Turkish society's understanding of tolerance in the public sphere and within the family is analyzed by taking into consideration the changing trends compared to previous years. The report also shows social distances according to voter clusters and demographic breakdowns.
KONDA Research has been conducting a series of monthly political and social surveys called BAROMETER since 2010. In addition to the standard questions on demographic characteristics, political preferences and economic expectations that we regularly ask in each BAROMETER survey, we also ask questions about the public's perspective on the issues that are on the public agenda at the time and to measure their perceptions and expectations in different areas. The survey, the 133rd in the Barometer research series, was conducted on July 2-3, 2022 in 170 neighborhoods and villages of 109 districts, including the central districts of 28 provinces, by face-to-face interviews with 3546 people in their households.
