SUMMARY

In this section, district-based election results are analyzed according to socio-economic development levels (SEGE) calculated by the Ministry of Industry and Technology. The 973 districts in Turkey are divided into six different levels of development, with Istanbul-Şişli being the most developed and Şanlıurfa-Harran being the least developed. The section also examines the distribution of party votes and trends in voter behavior within each socio-economic development group:

  • What is the socio-economic development index (SEGE) and how are districts in Turkey classified according to this index?
  • Which districts in Turkey have the highest and lowest socio-economic development levels?
  • Which political parties have the highest vote shares in districts with different socio-economic development levels?
  • What relationship is observed between voter behavior and socio-economic development level?
