The section analyzes social perceptions and attitudes towards the lawsuits against Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and the arrest of Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ:
Attitudes toward the lawsuits against Ekrem İmamoğlu and the detention of Ümit Özdağ are determined by political polarization. In both matters, a predominant majority of society thinks that there is unlawfulness in these developments. Three out of every five people believe that Özdağ's detention is contrary to the law and that İmamoğlu is being obstructed via these lawsuits. Those who support both of these statements simultaneously constitute half of society. While traces of political polarization are observed in views toward the lawsuits, AK Party members support the cases more than MHP members do; nevertheless, 7 out of 10 MHP members believe the lawsuits were filed due to actual corruption. As the level of religiosity increases, support for this view also increases. On the other hand, while society generally opposes Özdağ's detention, it does not oppose Demirtaş's detention.
