SUMMARY
The section explores tendencies toward small, everyday interactions in Turkey ,such as engaging with others, starting conversations, and practicing daily communication ,as well as satisfaction with life conditions and feelings of loneliness. The section begins with a conceptual framework presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gül Günaydın and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emre Selçuk from Sabancı University:
- How often do you GREET people you know but are not very close to?
- How often do you THANK people you know but are not very close to?
- How often do you START A FACE-TO-FACE CONVERSATION with someone you know but are not very close to?
- In the past week, how many strangers have you started a conversation with?
- What do you think or feel when you start talking to someone you don’t know or barely know?
- In your opinion, can most people generally be trusted, or is it better to always be cautious toward others?
- Do you think most people try to take advantage of you, or do they try to treat you fairly?
- Do you think people usually try to help each other, or do they mostly think about their own interests?
- People around me find it easy to meet new people.
- People around me have many opportunities to get to know others better.
- It is common for people around me to chat with someone they have never met before.
- Overall, how satisfied are you with your life these days?
- How often do you feel lonely?
